Doc Harvey & The Philistans
June 29 / 7:16 am
For centuries the world has had no songs about perils of tripe smuggling in Morecambe, haunted brass bands, aquatic ritual dances from near Bury, the origins of Latin American dancing in a Preston suburb, and the obsession of Burnley folk with Benedictine.
Now these and other bizarre subjects are brought to life by the erudite Doc Harvey and his suspicious minions, The Philistans, in a musical journey of discovery into the lost songs of Lancashire.
Aided by trusty musical minions; Stanley Philistans on vocals guitar, and ukelele and the unrelated Phil Philistans on whistles, brass and vocals, The Doc – expert bookworm, accordionist and keyboardist will share his amazing rediscovered lost songs of Lancashire with you in an affably informed and amusingly thoughtful way that will leave you entertained and in awe from the experience.
“A salmagundi of assorted talents that are more than the sum of their parts – seriously funny” MIKE HARDING
‘The Philistans are deliriously inventive, uproariously funny and I hate them for it.” PHIL COOL
‘Too funny by two-thirds!!’ KEITH DONNELLY
