Dave Walters (with support from Lunetide)
Nov 18, 2023 / 00:31
Dave Walters, singer, songwriter, guitarist and sailor began his lifelong passion for songs and sailing in Fleetwood, Lancashire, where he co-owned a Crossfields-built Morecambe Bay Prawner, Pastime. This became the subject of ‘Ballerina’, a song he recorded for his third solo album Kites. (SHY7017)
Formative musical influences included singers across the UK and the east coast of the USA – a hybrid genre of transatlantic roots music. The Gateshead singer Louis Killen, Scots songwriter and broadcaster Archie Fisher and the incomparable Nic Jones were key to his developing style. His debut album, Comes Sailing In was one of the Lake District based Fellside label’s early recordings. (FE004)
His current project is a unique collection of songs and poems: Soul Sailing. In a performance that reflects a love for our maritime heritage and his own Celtic roots, he is accompanied by a driving rhythmic picking style on a selection of English made guitars
The concert is in connection with a conference on Crossfields of Arnside and their boats. https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/friends-of-crossfield-1912-yacht-severn/crossfields-conference/e-xagkoe
